One of the disadvantages of living in Tennessee during springtime is the rain. It is by far the wettest season of the year for Nashville with around 5-6 inches of rain. While catastrophic rains are rare, you can expect consistent rainy weather during these months. This, in turn, produces prime conditions for mold growth. Homeowners should be on a lookout for water damage and damp spots during this season as these can be precursors for something more serious. Spring is also tornado season - while a tornado striking Nashville is extremely rare - it's just something you need to look out for if you're visiting Nashville and surrounding cities in Tennessee. Contact Rytech Nashville if you ever suspect mold growth in your home and need Mold remediation Nashville services.

FAQs

How long does it take to dry out after incurring water damage?
Because there are many variables that will determine how long it may take from start to finish, water damage will vary from house to house. In most cases, we at Rytech see an average dry time of three days, though it may take longer before we can begin the restoration process.
What should a homeowner do while waiting for the arrival of their water damage restoration crew?
The first step would be to ensure that the surrounding area is safe. Check for water that might be near electrical outlets. If water has reached the electrical outlets, immediately cut off power to avoid electrocution. Be very careful and avoid walking on floors that appear to be drooping or entering rooms where the ceilings appear to have severe water damage.
What do water damage restoration companies do?
Companies that provide water damage restoration can cover many services - but the primary goal is ultimately to bring your home back to its original condition. Services may include water removal, sanitation, and drying of materials inside your home. Water, combined with humidity, are prime conditions for bacteria and mold to take root. Continuous exposure to mold can lead to serious medical issues. For this reason, the sooner you contact a water damage removal expert and mold remediation expert for their services, the sooner you can address these issues and protect your health.
What steps are taken during the water damage restoration process?
Water damage restoration and mold removal involve more than simply drying out the affected area. There are five steps that need to be followed to produce the best results:
Step One: The inspection process. Before any work is done, a trained expert will assess the degree of water damage and assign a classification that correlates to how severe the damage is. This is important as knowing what kind of damage you are dealing with will dictate the process of restoration. It is also important that the inspector check for areas with hidden water damage throughout the property.
Step Two: Water removal. Any standing water is removed using industrial pumps and specialized suction systems.
Step Three: Drying. It’s not enough to remove standing water. In order to begin restoration, the interior must be completely dry. The technicians begin by using fans and dehumidifiers. Depending on the extent of the water damage, it may take two weeks or longer to completely dry out your property. In the Nashville area, it is important to account for the heat and humidity which may result in longer drying times.
Step Four: Cleaning. Technicians use specialized air purification devices to remove any residual dampness from the air. It is during this process that your personal possessions, including furniture, garments, and carpets may be cleaned and disinfected.
Step Five: Restoration. This is the most time-intensive step in the water damage restoration process. This may involve replacing damaged materials such as drywall, insulation, and flooring). The work required completely depends on the extent of water damage.
