What is an IICRC Certified Professional and Why Do I Need One?

One of the main benefits of hiring an IICRC certified professional to handle water or mold contamination in your home is to know who you arehiring! Unfortunately, almost anybody can show up at your door claiming to be qu alified to restore your home once water damage as occured.

After water damage and/or mold contamination, you want a specialist in these unique fields who can prove it.  For over thirty years, the IICRC (The Institute For Inspection, Cleaning and Restoration Certification) has been the official trade organization for the water damage recovery and mold remediation industry. Today, over 5,500 professionals have been trained and certified by the IICRC and among those are Rytech technicians. Here are a few of the benefits of a certified professional:

  • The IICRC wrote the book. That is, the book of water damage and mold remediation standards that govern the techniques and practices in our industry. As an ANSI (American National Standards Institute) accredited institution, the IICRC performs the research and publishes official standards that ensure customers benefit from the most effective, up-to-date restoration and recovery methods.
  • Technicians are trained and certified by the IICRC. To display the IICRC certification, water damage and mold technicians are trained and tested on curriculum developed by the IICRC and must meet continuing education requirements to maintain certification. Rytech technicians coming into your home are trained in specialized procedures and technology required to do the job to industry standards.
  • The benefits of using an IICRC certified professional include a sense of trust, as well as, standardized practices like formal written estimates, written agreements contracts and adequate insurance coverage.
